Word Play "soulverdeyogart"

Soulverde, means green soul, in Portuguese it translates as "I am green" ( eu sou verde). Green is the color affiliated with the heart chakra; green also represents nature. The combination of yoga and art, sharing the "a" in the blogs name could be pronuced like "yogurt". Yogurt in Sanskrit is dadhi. The symoblism of the giving of bowls of yogurt is often found in Buddhist thangka scroll paintings in which yogurt represents ultimate awareness. The slow process of making yogurt a fermenting of milk is an appropriate metaphor for the transformation of spirit. By applying the principles of yoga, creation of art, writing and Buddhism the potential for overcoming negative behavior (karma) and the clear nature of mind can be revealed. To achieve this spiritual knowledge an offering of yogurt is made. Namaste.

Photos from the Yoga & Art Workshop, Bellingham, WA




The weekend of June 11 and 12, 2011, truly a celebration of my birthday (which was actually the following weekend), at The Old Foundry, near the Bellingham Saturday Market, a group of ten joined to practice yoga and create japa malas and mandalas. The photos attest to the diversity of the group and the uniqueness of each individual. Fun, insight and exploration were enjoyed by all. Namaste! Thank you to Ruby for helping and to my Mom! Stephanie teaching at Academia da Praia

Twice a week I am now teaching morning yoga classes at the Acadameia da Praia in downtown Garopaba, Brazil. Classes times 9:05-10:05 am, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bring a changa or your own towel and mat if you like, there are mats available, but I recommend you bring your own if you have one. Costs? inquire at the Acadameia da Praia reception desk. Yoga in English

Starting September 5th, 2011, a 10 week, once a week, yoga class begins, Yoga in English, at the SoulVerde Studio in Palhochina, Garopaba. Classes are on Wednesdays 10:30-11:45 am.

Cost for 10 week package, $100 reis.

This class is great for English Speakers and those wanting to practice and learn English in a natural, real life setting. The yoga class is an hour long with a 15 minute conversation period at the end; a great time to visit and apply your English skills, inquire about other types of yoga.
